Bernd Laqua studied computer science at the Technical University of Munich and at the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, with focus on distributed systems, artificial intelligence, business intelligence and software engineering. He graduated in 2007 with distinction. Besides his computer science studies, he completed the management-oriented graduate program Technology Management at the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) in Munich, which is part of the Elite Network of Bavaria.

Subsequently, Bernd Laqua was self-employed, founded his own company and established a business in the field of high frequency trading of financial instruments which he transferred to another company in 2011.

Bernd Laqua then commenced his legal and practical training at WUESTHOFF & WUESTHOFF which he successfully completed in 2014. He is admitted as German Patent Attorney and as European Patent Attorney and is partner at WUESTHOFF & WUESTHOFF since 2018. Bernd Laqua has expertise in all aspects of patent practice and his current activities focus on prosecuting patents as well as on handling opposition, appeal and litigation cases. His technical focus includes the fields of information and communication technology, medical engineering and general mechanics. As a special expertise, Bernd Laqua has extensive experience in the field of software-related inventions.
